Forest Glen Condos and Forest Glen Real Estate
The Forest Glen area is in the center of the north edge of Chicago and is 10 miles north of the Loop. It is the most suburban area of the city with gently rolling hills and mostly owner-occupied single-family homes. It is surrounded by golf courses, parks, cemetaries and forest preserves which separate it from the rest of the city. The area is, according to the Encyclopedia of Chicago, overwhelmingly white and Roman Catholic. Block parties are common. Many city administrators, upper-echelon police and fire officials, lawyers, judges, and politicians live here.
Neigborhoods:
Edgebrook is the northern section of Forest Glen. To the north of Edgebrook lie Wildwood and then North Edgebrook. Frequently the three communities together are referred to as "Edgebrook." Housing in this area varies but generally it is “mid-range” with numerous bungalows and moderate sized homes.
Sauganash was once part of the Sauganash land tract and was annexed by the city of Chicago in 1889. This neighborhood is named after Sauganash, a local Potawotomi leader in the 19th century. The "Old Treaty Elm" was located here. The neighborhood is home to two churches: Sauganash Community Church, a non-denominational Protestant church, and Queen of All Saints, a Roman Catholic Basilica. The Sauganash neighborhood, a residential area, has many distinctive, individualistic homes. It also had large tracts of prairie land until the mid 1950s.
The Sauganash neighborhood is bordered by Devon to the North, Bryn Mawr to the South, and Cicero to the West. The eastern boundary is an unused railroad spur.
